Christening & Baptism Photography in Kilkenny

Kilkenny's stone-walled estates give us texture other counties can't: ivy, slate, and long gravel avenues that make for some of our favourite arrival shots in Ireland.

We photograph christenings and baptisms with the same documentary approach we bring to weddings: close, quiet, and working with available light wherever possible. The ceremony itself is usually short — 20 to 40 minutes — so the session is built around the full day rather than just the church service.

We arrive before the service to introduce ourselves to the family and to scout the church or chapel quietly. Many christening venues are dimly lit with restricted positions, so we identify the workable angles early and have equipment in place before families arrive. During the ceremony itself we are not disruptive — we position once and stay there.

Beyond the church, we document everything around the session: getting the baby ready at home, the drive to the church, siblings holding the new arrival for the first time, the conversations between grandparents in the church carpark. Those edges of the day are often the images families return to most.

Family portraits take place after the service while everyone is still gathered. We work through immediate family first, then wider family groups, then a few natural shots before everyone disperses. We keep this portion efficient and relaxed — typically 20 to 25 minutes depending on the size of the family.

Coverage typically runs three to four hours from getting ready at home through to the gathering or meal that follows the ceremony. The delivered gallery runs to 150 to 300 images depending on the size of the event, edited to a consistent standard and delivered within three weeks. Print rights are included.
